Young Veterans Access Disability Benefits

You don’t have to be a Vietnam veteran to get help from a Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) veteran service officer (VSO).

A female veteran who had previously served in the Gulf War’s Operation Southern Watch recently submitted a claim with a VVA VSO’s help and received a favorable decision from the Veterans Administration. Now rated at 60% service-connected disability, she received a retroactive payment of $16,300 and gets a monthly benefit of $1,358.

Another female service member who still serves with the National Guard submitted a claim and was granted an 80% service-connected disability rating and $35,000 in retroactive pay.

Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
