VSOs Speed Claims Review to Deliver Benefits

Thanks to VVA veteran service officers (VSOs), initial claims sometimes sail through review, delivering benefits to deserving veterans quickly. 

A female Gulf War Marine veteran recently submitted a claim for compensation for 13 service-connected conditions. The initial decision awarded service connection for four conditions, putting nine on deferred status. The veteran’s spouse was added as a dependent. 

Another veteran submitted his first claim, complaining of tinnitus and knee problems. With diligent evidence-gathering, the VSO helped the Veterans Administration make the decision to grant the veteran service connection for both conditions in less than 60 days.
