VSOs Help Veterans Address Trauma
Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) veteran service officers (VSOs) regularly work with veterans who have experienced trauma and its lingering aftereffects.
Recently, a female U.S. Navy veteran needed help to feel comfortable enough to open up about a personal trauma she suffered in service. With the help of a VSO, she was able to start the process of identifying the traumatic incidents that produced her mental anguish and registered with a Veterans Administration Medical Clinic to start the healing process.
Many veterans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorders, and some stall on getting help due to the stigma related to mental illness and red tape. Don’t wait! Another veteran client of the same VSO filed a claim for PTSD and keeps thanking VVA for everything we did to help him with the process.
Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
