VSO Helps Fraternity Deliver Veteran Service

Last fall, a Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) veteran service officer (VSO) was approached by the son of a veteran client. The young man asked if his fraternity chapter, Sigma Chi at Bryant University in Rhode Island, could assist local veterans with any community service.

The VSO put the word out and found a veteran’s daughter who was suffering from terminal cancer and needed yard work done. On a Friday, he met up with 14 fraternity brothers and did a tremendous job of clearing the overgrown brush and trees from the woman’s yard.

Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
