Two More Veterans Helped Under the PACT Act
A Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) veteran service officer (VSO) recently assisted the surviving spouse of a service member who passed away in 2020. At the time, her death wasn’t considered service-connected.
Thanks to the PACT Act, however, the VVA VSO was able to help the veteran’s spouse submit a supplemental claim for a service-connected death. The result? The surviving spouse was awarded burial benefits and Dependency & Indemnity Compensation (DIC).
With a VVA VSO’s help, another veteran was able to prove to the Veterans Affairs (VA) that he was stationed aboard the USS Guam in the Vietnam era, making several of his health conditions presumptive service-connected disabilities under the PACT Act.
Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
