Revisiting Claim Results in Additional Benefits

It’s often worthwhile to revisit a VA benefits claim if a physical or mental health issue worsens or the benefits received no longer match the level of disability experienced.

A Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) VSO recently met with a veteran who was rated at 50% for PTSD and 10% for a lower back injury, resulting in a 70% disability rating. The man said his conditions had worsened, however, and the VSO helped him apply for increases for both conditions. The veteran he now receives 70% for PTSD and 40% for his lower back, resulting in an overall rating of 90%.

For assistance with a benefits claim, veterans can locate a Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Veteran Service Officer here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website where VVA doesn’t have VSOs. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
