Massachusetts VSOs Help Two Vets With PTSD

In Massachusetts, VSOs have been busy tackling backlogged appeals to the Veterans Administration for veterans of all U.S. conflicts. Two continue to suffer the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

One Vietnam veteran who sought an increase in the disability rating for his PTSD had been denied twice in the last five years. A VSO was able to help him in reapply with a succinct 21-0781 statement in support of his claim for PTSD. The veteran’s rating was subsequently increased to 70% backdated and backdated to August 2023.

Another veteran of the Gulf War saw his request for an increase in in his 30% disability rating for PTSD — in place since 2018 — denied. A new claim facilitated by the Massachusetts office succeeded in raising the veteran’s rating to 100%, backdated to September 2023.

Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with a claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
