It’s Never Too Late to File a Claim

A Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) veteran service officer (VSO) recently helped a 92-year-old Korean War veteran with a claim. He was living on Social Security payments of just $13,000 annually and was facing multiple health concerns related to his service as a combat veteran.

The veteran had been rated at 0% service-connected disability for hearing loss; with the VSO’s help, he was able to get that rating increased to 80%. Combined with other disabilities, the veteran reached 100% and went from scraping by to a living wage of nearly $66,000 annually, with back pay of about $48,000.

Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
