It Often Pays to Revisit Your Claims
A Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) veteran service officer (VSO) recently assisted a veteran who wanted to put in for increased compensation. During the interview, the VSO found that the veteran had other issues that needed to be addressed.
He applied for new disabilities and was discovered to be eligible for total disability based on individual unemployability (TDIU) and was awarded at a 100% rate with housebound allowances.
Another veteran who was already service-connected for hearing loss and asthma submitted a claim for an increase since his conditions had worsened over the years. He ultimately received a 100% service-connected disability rating and received back pay of about $57,000.
Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
