Supplemental Documents Win PTSD Compensation

A Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) veteran service officer (VSO) recently met with a Gulf War veteran who was rated at 40%. He had witnessed a trauma on the flight deck during his service, but was denied compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on his original claim in 2018.

The VSO submitted supplemental information including Nexis reports, statements from colleagues and newspaper archive evidence. The veteran was quickly service-connected for PTSD and learned more about VHA mental health treatment and resources.

Contact a VVA Veteran Service Officer to assist with your claim in states that have a benefits program here, or search for a VSO from another organization through the VA’s website in states where we do not. Enter your ZIP code or city and state, and you’ll see which VSOs serve your area.
